- --------------------------------------------------------------
- LICENSING:
- We have changed the way the Control Center validates licenses.
- You no longer have to make sure that all clients on the
- network are using the same license. You only need to bind the
- license in the Control Center.
-
- If you need to change your license on the v4.1 Control Center
- follow these steps:
- 1) Run the Control Center.
- 2) Under the Tools menu, select Bind License Certificate
- 3) Give the location of your new license
-
- You can verify your new license by opening Help|About and
- selection View License.
-
-
- UPDATING:
- If your Clients are v4.0.x, you are not REQUIRED to update
- all of the client disks. The v4.1 Control Center will
- work with v4.0.x Clients. You should, however, update your
- System Agents to v4.1. To do this easily, we have provided
- a utility -- AgentUpdate.exe.
-
- To use this utility follow these steps (it will require the
- System Agent machine to reboot):
- 1) From the Control Center, right click on the System
- Agent that you want to update. (The v4.1 Control Center
- will detect v4.0.x System Agents for this purpose.)
- 2) Select "Send File To Agent" from the menu.
- 3) Browse to where you installed ImageCast and open up the
- \Image Prep Utilities\System Agent.
- 4) Select AgentUpdate.exe and hit Open.
- 5) Select the the "Execute file after transferring." check
- box.
- 6) Hit the send button.
- 7) File will be sent to the System Agent and it will update
- and reboot the machine.
- 8) The machine will load and use the new (v4.1) System
- Agent.

- 2. SPECIAL NOTE WHEN CONSIDERING MULTICAST VS. STANDALONE MODE
- --------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Many ImageCast customers have been confused in the past by the
- perceived necessity of TCP/IP on their networks when running
- ImageCast with the Controller/Control Center. You DO NOT need
- to be using or have TCP/IP installed on your entire network to
- use the ImageCast Control Center with your Client PCs. The
- only requirement is that the PC/Workstation running the
- Control Center software have TCP/IP network stacks installed
- in addition to the network stacks already there for your
- particular network protocol(s). When the ClientBuilder builds
- Client diskettes for Multicast mode, it takes care of setting
- up the drivers for TCP/IP on that end. No other PCs on your
- network, including the model system set up to be cloned,
- require TCP/IP networking/protocol stacks to be loaded onto
- them.
-
- The only exception to this is if you will be using the
- System Agent (from within Windows on Client PCs).
- In that case, you'll need the TCP/IP stacks loaded on those
- Windows PCs (or the model system, if that is where they will
- be derived from) and you must be sure the same IP address is
- used for Windows as for that PC's Client (the one being
- launched from the hard drive after a remote reboot operation).
-
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------
- 3. BINDING YOUR CLIENT LICENSE FILE
- --------------------------------------------------------------
-
- These steps are necessary if you are running the Client in
- StandAlone mode and you need to unlock other features not
- available with the Client's current license.
-
- NOTE: If you are running only multicast operations from the
- Control Center, you do not need to go through this procedure.
- This only pertains to running the Client in StandAlone mode.
-
- There are several ways to bind a new license;
-
- a) On installation you will be prompted for the location of
- your license certificate and, if you provide a new license
- any disks created with the installed ClientBuilder will
- have a newly licensed client.
-
- b) You can use the Control Center pull-down menu
- Tools|Bind License and then create new Client disks with
- the installed ClientBuilder or
-
- c) Follow these steps to license your Clients manually:
-
- 1) Install ImageCast from the CD-ROM or from the downloaded
- package.
-
- 2) Copy your License Certificate (named something like
- "XXM0102.LIC") into the Client folder
- (normally C:\Program Files\ImageCast3\Client\).
-
- 3) Open a DOS command box and CD to the Client directory,
- then run:
-
- CLIENT /LIC=XXM0102.LIC
-
- (where XXM0102.LIC is the name of your License
- Certificate).
-
- Your Client is now licensed. When you build your Client Boot
- Diskettes using ClientBuilder, or manually, be sure to
- reference the Client you have licensed.
-
-
-
- --------------------------------------------------------------
- 4. LICENSE SUMMARY
- --------------------------------------------------------------
-
- You have agreed to use the Client software to set up a
- maximum number of computers corresponding to your
- purchased license pack. You agree that you will not use
- the Client software on more than that number of systems
- without first purchasing an additional license pack.
-
- Please contact your distributor to upgrade your license.
