  28. LICENSING:
  29. We have changed the way the Control Center validates licenses.
  30. You no longer have to make sure that all clients on the
  31. network are using the same license.  You only need to bind the
  32. license in the Control Center. 
  33.  
  34. If you need to change your license on the v4.1 Control Center 
  35. follow these steps:
  36. 1) Run the Control Center.
  37. 2) Under the Tools menu, select Bind License Certificate
  38. 3) Give the location of your new license
  39.  
  40. You can verify your new license by opening Help|About and 
  41. selection View License.
  42.

  44. UPDATING:  
  45. If your Clients are v4.0.x, you are not REQUIRED to update 
  46. all of the client disks.  The v4.1 Control Center will 
  47. work with v4.0.x Clients.  You should, however, update your
  48. System Agents to v4.1.  To do this easily, we have provided 
  49. a utility -- AgentUpdate.exe.
  50.  
  51. To use this utility follow these steps (it will require the
  52. System Agent machine to reboot):
  53. 1) From the Control Center, right click on the System
  54.    Agent that you want to update. (The v4.1 Control Center
  55.    will detect v4.0.x System Agents for this purpose.)
  56. 2) Select "Send File To Agent" from the menu.
  57. 3) Browse to where you installed ImageCast and open up the
  58.    \Image Prep Utilities\System Agent.
  59. 4) Select AgentUpdate.exe and hit Open.
  60. 5) Select the the "Execute file after transferring." check
  61.    box.
  62. 6) Hit the send button.
  63. 7) File will be sent to the System Agent and it will update
  64.    and reboot the machine.
  65. 8) The machine will load and use the new (v4.1) System
  66.    Agent.

  119. 2. SPECIAL NOTE WHEN CONSIDERING MULTICAST VS. STANDALONE MODE

  122. Many ImageCast customers have been confused in the past by the 
  123. perceived necessity of TCP/IP on their networks when running 
  124. ImageCast with the Controller/Control Center. You DO NOT need 
  125. to be using or have TCP/IP installed on your entire network to
  126. use the ImageCast Control Center with your Client PCs. The 
  127. only requirement is that the PC/Workstation running the 
  128. Control Center software have TCP/IP network stacks installed 
  129. in addition to the network stacks already there for your 
  130. particular network protocol(s). When the ClientBuilder builds
  131. Client diskettes for Multicast mode, it takes care of setting
  132. up the drivers for TCP/IP on that end. No other PCs on your
  133. network, including the model system set up to be cloned, 
  134. require TCP/IP networking/protocol stacks to be loaded onto 
  135. them.

  137. The only exception to this is if you will be using the 
  138. System Agent (from within Windows on Client PCs). 
  139. In that case, you'll need the TCP/IP stacks loaded on those 
  140. Windows PCs (or the model system, if that is where they will 
  141. be derived from) and you must be sure the same IP address is 
  142. used for Windows as for that PC's Client (the one being 
  143. launched from the hard drive after a remote reboot operation).

  147. 3. BINDING YOUR CLIENT LICENSE FILE
  148. --------------------------------------------------------------

  150. These steps are necessary if you are running the Client in
  151. StandAlone mode and you need to unlock other features not 
  152. available with the Client's current license.
  153.  
  154. NOTE:  If you are running only multicast operations from the 
  155. Control Center, you do not need to go through this procedure.
  156. This only pertains to running the Client in StandAlone mode.
  157.  
  158. There are several ways to bind a new license; 
  159.  
  160. a) On installation you will be prompted for the location of
  161.    your license certificate and, if you provide a new license
  162.    any disks created with the installed ClientBuilder will 
  163.    have a newly licensed client.
  164.  
  165. b) You can use the Control Center pull-down menu  
  166.    Tools|Bind License and then create new Client disks with
  167.    the installed ClientBuilder or 
  168.  
  169. c) Follow these steps to license your Clients manually:
  170.  
  171.    1) Install ImageCast from the CD-ROM or from the downloaded 
  172.       package.
  173.  
  174.    2) Copy your License Certificate (named something like 
  175.       "XXM0102.LIC") into the Client folder 
  176.       (normally C:\Program Files\ImageCast3\Client\).
  177.  
  178.    3) Open a DOS command box and CD to the Client directory, 
  179.       then run:
  180.  
  181.          CLIENT /LIC=XXM0102.LIC
  182.  
  183.       (where XXM0102.LIC is the name of your License 
  184.       Certificate).
  185.  
  186. Your Client is now licensed.  When you build your Client Boot
  187. Diskettes using ClientBuilder, or manually, be sure to
  188. reference the Client you have licensed.

  196. You have agreed to use the Client software to set up a
  197. maximum number of computers corresponding to your
  198. purchased license pack.  You agree that you will not use 
  199. the Client software on more than that number of systems 
  200. without first purchasing an additional license pack.
